We always see those “health fad” headlines on Facebook and other social media platforms with something along the lines of You Can Lose 7 Kilos By Drinking This Detox Tea or Eat This One Food and You Will Lose 10 Kilos. Even though it sounds amazing to lose that many kilos and become your fitter self, it definitely isn’t realistic and it’s usually there for click bait purposes.
One food isn’t going to rejuvenate your whole body. Being healthy is not going to happen overnight. It requires perseverance and being self-motivated. However, you can start your journey to becoming your healthier self by following these 3 Healthy Food Trends – provided that you do put in the time and effort!
1. Sugar Detox
We all consume too much sugar on a day-to-day basis. This is because sugar is addictive and we all like to consume food that’s sweet in general. However, taking part in a sugar detox will over time show positive changes to your body! Firstly, you’ll feel more awake and have more energy throughout the day. Not only that, you’ll become less dependent on sugar! For more reasons on why you should decrease your daily sugar intake, read our article with 15 Reasons Why You Should Decrease Your Daily Sugar Intake!
2. Juice Cleanse
It might seem impossible to feel satisfied if your diet only consists of juice and nothing else! But really, it depends on what you blend e.g. vegetables will make you feel fuller than fruits. Juices contain heaps of vitamins and minerals which are good for your body! The sugars in a juice (given that you blended it yourself) are packed with natural sugars – so they aren’t as harmful to your body compared to the refined sugars in packaged juices, and soft drinks that are available in your local supermarket.
3. Yoghurt and Muesli
When making this at home, always use Greek yoghurt because it contains little to no sugar. Naturally, yoghurt should be sour, and it’s the copious amount of sugar that are packed in that little tub of yoghurt that makes it sweet. Adding muesli to the yoghurt is a much better alternative if you want to sweeten your yoghurt!
